Pierogi: Hand/Home-Made Fruit-filled Dumplings!

For special occasions or simply daily meals, how about trying out home-made Polish dumplings, called, "pierogi"...pronounced, pi-ye-ro-gee, filled with fruit such as apples, blueberries or cherries?  Pierogi are considered simultaneously, a staple and rare delicacy and a main dish and dessert.  Pierogi only include two main ingredients, the dough and the filling.  Dough is made with minimal, all natural ingredients, such as flour, water and eggs and the filling is simply made with pure apple, blueberry or cherry --- no other fillers, unnecessary or artificial ingredients --- just the fruit.  Pure sugar can be added if desired.  (see picture).  Pierogi can be prepared in a variety of ways, such as, boiling, steaming, poaching, baking and pan-frying.  When pierogi are topped with simple sour cream or a festive and delicious sweet creamy topping specially made with a fiercely-guarded recipe, you will enjoy the one of the most scrumptious meal you've ever eaten.  Pierogi can be specially ordered using gluten and wheat free flour, unsweetened, large or small.  Orders are made by the dozen (12).  Each "pierog" is hand made, no machines or automated equipment is used to make pierogi.  Pierogi can last a long time --- many months --- in the freezer if frozen well.  If pierogi are placed in those storage envlopes/sotrage bags, they can actually last for over a year and taste as though you just made them today!  You won't want to leave the pierogi for that long but if they "accidentally" fall to the bottom of the freezer, fear not, because your pierogi will come out fine, remember if they've been frozen properly.  Order your pierogi today for Lenten meatless meals or for Christmas Eve suppers where traditional Poles, again, eat a meatless meal.  You will be so glad that you tried them and wondered how you ever lived with out them!
